Research Notes
The Series 3 was introduced as a Waltham-Howard 3/4 Model with offset rayed damaskeening on nickel plates. This pattern was quickly replaced with the more familiar concentric circle design. Early variants were adjusted to temperature and were equipped with a single roller escapement. Soon after introduction, the level of adjustment was upgraded to temperature and three positions. The company began closing out the Series 3 starting in 1910 as the similar Series 9 was being introduced.
